AUGUST

As a teacher, I always looked forward to going back to school.
Shopping for classroom supplies and school clothes was fun!
Couldn't wait to meet my class, see my teacher friends,
get back into a routine,
see students and parents from the previous year.

I always had great summers!
Playing with nieces and nephews, a few classes for lane change,
helping with Conrad's June orchestra, Draper Pioneer Pageant,
Hawaii, Disneyland, Disney World, Young Women's Camp,
Young Women's softball, Alaskan Cruise, 7 US History trips.
And 2 summers, I went to the NBA Finals!!!
After eventful summers, I was ready for school.

But, when the emphasis turned from teaching to learn to
teaching for high stakes testing...back to school changed.
For starters, we had required workshops...1-2 weeks worth.
Then, the team collaboration.
More summer days gone.
(Most of these took place in June)

When the calendar turned from July to August,
I would get a knot in my stomach...and heart.
Then, I'd just buck up, and move forward.
And then, BYU Football would start at the
beginning of the school year, followed by Jazz games,
and all was right with the world.

Today, August 1st has an entirely different meaning!

Here are some funny Back to School memes.
