ALAN

Alan Peck was in my very first class . . . 1980-1981.
He was very artistic!
He is a graphic designer.
He also makes bowls out of wood.

He was featured in an article in the October Slug Magazine.

Click on the link to read the article.

OH, THAT ONE WAGON WHEEL GAME

What's a "Wagon Wheel?"
It's the prize for the winner of the
BYU-Utah State game each year.
It represents the Pioneers crossing the
plains between 1847 and the 1880's.
This game is always played the Friday
before LDS General Conference.

It was a HORRIBLE game!
We couldn't even win the coin toss!

Here are all the highlight of the game:

I love the location of LaVell Edwards Stadium!

The "Y" on the mountain was lit up.

Cosmo danced with the Cougarettes, and didn't
lose his head like the last game:

https://www.facebook.com/BYUCOSMO/videos/310001513128753/

I took my oldest great niece, Courtney, to the game.
She turned 18 last week, and is a Senior at Westlake High,
the largest high school in the state!
(Looking forward to graduation, and the reading of the names! Bleh.)
Her dad, Chris, is my oldest nephew.  He was in
junior high when I first became a season ticket holder.
We went to TONS of games together!
He had gone hunting with his 8 year old boy.
His wife and 13 year old girl went to the Jazz game
with my tickets.

Also, another big highlight . . . Courtney and I got my mom's
"Trick or Treat" for her entire posterity . . . 32 people, completed.
Each person receives a baggie with a toothbrush,
toothbrush holder, and toothpaste.
Courtney also wrote everyone's name on the baggie.

Camry at the Jazz game

My roommate from Dixie Jr College, her daughter, Tara,
found me.  Tara and her husband, Wayne, came up from St. George
for the game!  He is a football coach at Dixie High School.
They have 6 children, including twin boys.

It seems like yesterday that I went to St. George for
their wedding!
It was the day of a BYU-Utah football game at BYU.
I chose the wedding and trip.
I can count on one hand the number of times
I have seen BYU beat Utah in Provo in the
last 26 years!!!
And . . . BYU lost.

This was the biggest highlight of the game!
David Barlow is in that wacky Utah State hoodie.
I taught him my second year of teaching!
1981-1982.
That was the year I had 20 boys and 8 girls in my class.
Most of the boys had the same first name as another
boy in the class!
Jackson Barlow, David's son, is on the right.
I also taught him!!!
2011-2012
He is now a senior at Lone Peak.
(I only had 2 more classes after Jackson)
Jackson has the distinction of being one of my
"grandstudents"  . . . the child of one
of my former students!
I had a lot of grandstudents,
starting in the 2003-2004 school year!

I also taught David's daughter, Emily.
She is currently serving as a missionary for the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the
Texas San Antonio Spanish speaking mission.
She attended Utah State after graduating from Lone Peak.

David and his kids are GREAT!

And . . . that's all of the highlights!

But, we always can say,
"We had Wisconsin!"

NOT A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP POST, BUT . . .

Lone Peak High School
Girls Cross Country
#2 in the NATION!!!

GENERAL CONFERENCE

The first Saturday and Sunday of April and October
is General Conference for the LDS Church.
(Ooops.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We're to us the entire name . . . not LDS, not The Church, and not Mormon.)

It has been rumored that many changes are coming
at the upcoming General Conference.
I think that church will be 2 hours instead of 3
(cutting out Sunday School), and the length of service
on a mission can change.

This "Bingo Card" is hysterical!
Except . . . when a was a little girl, I remember the Church
(oops again) changing Family Home Evening from
Wednesday to Monday!

#17 . . . ON THE WAY

Well, CJ made it official.
He posted this photo on his Instagram,
with the following post:
"Happy 28th Birthday to my beautiful, determined,
hard working, loving wife & now soon to be MOM!
I'm so excited for this next chapter in our story.  I
have no doubt that you will be an amazing mom, just
as you've been with everything else in your life.
Enjoy your special day.
I LOVE YOU."
It is great that Jax is making the announcement!
Katie's mom, and I'm sure her sisters all
knew that she was expecting.

It was revealed at a recent birthday party.
She had Courtney open up her "present" that was several
attached and folded up papers that said they were expecting.
So appropriate that the oldest of her 16 nieces and
nephews got to open it!
Katie became an aunt at 10!!!

Katie is due April 20.  Two days after Lily's birthday
and three days before Jaycie's!
She could even have the baby on one of their birthdays!
In our family, it happens!
Camry was born on Katie's 15th birthday . . . October 3
Shayla was born on Courtney's 6th birthday . . . September 26
Heidi was born one day before my 29th birthday . . . October 25 & 26
Oakley was born one day after Addie's 1st birthday . . . May 5 & 6
And, of course, Ally & Brooky were born on the same day . . . November 15.
We also have a few that are 2 and 3 days apart.

It's been quite awhile since we had a
first child in the family!

Chris & Kim's first . . . Courtney, age 18
Camille & Mark's first . . . Shayla,  age 12
Ashley & John's first . . .Jaycie,  age 13
McKay & Lori's first . . . Cole, age 14
Heidi & Mike's first . . . Oakley, age 7

The youngest in the family is Jacob, age 2 1/2.
Kenzie is 3 months older.

There are 11 girls and 5 boys.
I think pink.

When Heidi was expecting twins, the older boys
said that at least ONE of them HAS to be a boy!
Nope.  Two girls!

Katie & CJ have been visiting for a week.
They will return to Indianapolis tomorrow.
CJ is on the Indian Pacers NBA team.
On the first day of practice, he tore his Achilles.
Out for the season.
I hope it's not career ending!
He had surgery. And, all of his doctors, therapists, etc.
are in Indianapolis.
After all, they "own" him, and will
oversee his recovery.
I hope they come back a time or two so
we can see what Katie looks like pregnant!

She will be coming back to Utah to
have the baby.  She'll come home before she is
unable to fly!

Who would have thought that out of 2 children in
our family, that only 1 of us would be married
and multiply and replenish the earth?!

6 nieces & nephews
6 spouses
16, soon to be 17, great nieces and nephews
