RIP, Danny Sutherland. Danny was in my 2nd class...1981-1982.
I taught his (future) sister-in-law. Melody Walker, in the same class! I
also taught 2 of his brothers, Jeff and Justin, and a nephew, Max, my last year.
Daniel Lawrence Sutherland passed away on February 25, 2016 in Seattle, Washington.
Dan was born on December 28, 1970, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Russell Lee and Carolyn Woodruff Sutherland. In his own boyhood words, he had brown eyes, brown hair, and was good looking. He grew up in Alpine, Utah as the 5th of 9 children, where he enjoyed running, hiking, bicycling, racquetball, and had a passion for automobiles. He was a good student and especially excelled in mathematics. After graduating from American Fork High School in 1989, Dan served an honorable mission in Chile and California for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Following that, he graduated from Brigham Young University School of Accountancy with a Master's degree. He served as a member of a bishopric during that time. He spent his professional career in Seattle, where he worked for KPMG and PMI Worldwide. Dan married Tiffany Russell on December 5, 1998. They had 3 children - Caleb, Hannah, and Andrew. Dan and Tiffany were later divorced. Dan loved his children with all his heart. He considered his time spent with them precious. He loved talking about them, and was very proud of each one. Dan was bright and witty. He loved to play practical jokes and make people laugh. He enjoyed cooking and sharing good food with family and friends. He loved to golf and organized his company golf tournaments over the last several years. He was meticulous in his work and was always willing to help whenever he could. Dan is loved and is sorely missed. Dan is preceded in death by his father, Russell. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn, his step-father, LeRoy, his children Caleb (16), Hannah (14), and Andrew (12), his siblings, Mark, Barbara, David, Karen, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Emily, and Justin, and step-siblings, William, Stephen, Ruth, and Robert. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29th, 2016 at 11:00 at the Mountainville 2nd Ward Building, 165 North 100 East, Alpine, Utah. I really enjoyed the funeral.
It's fun to hear what former students did with their lives!
Danny was really smart in 5th grade!
He received his Masters Degree at BYU in Accounting.
He was an accountant for his profession.
His youngest boy looked to be in 5th or 6th grade...and is the spitting
image of his father in my class!!!
It was also great to see so many former students, that I hadn't
seen in over 30 years!
Not sure where baldness and gray hair came from!
