When LaVell Edwards retired as the BYU coach in 2000,
Gary Crowton became the coach...and it was a train wreck!
It's hard to follow a legend!
Crowton followed LaVell, and Ty Corbin
followed Jerry Sloan.
It just doesn't work.
After Crowton stepped aside, enter
defensive coach, Bronco Mendenhall.
Bronco is from Alpine.
I taught his brother, Jake.
He attended American Fork High School,
with Davis Knight as the coach.
Next, came Snow College, then Oregon State.
Bronco coached for 11 years.
On Friday, December 4, Bronco accepted the
head coaching job at the University of Virginia.
He will love it there!!!
I've been there twice.
Gorgeous campus!
Great community...Charlottesville.
Close to US history sites.
Bronco started the firesides while on the road.
Fireside at the prison.
Alumni flag bearers.
Bowl game every year.
Independence.
Tradition.
Spirit.
Honor.
