Christian K. Groscost
1971 ~ 2012
Christian was born on April 1, 1971 in Washington D.C. to John and Dixie Groscost. He passed through all the usual benchmarks of childhood. Legos. Erector sets. Computers. Cars. Motorcycles. He loved them all. Taking things apart to see how they worked was one of his passions, and a passion he carried with him into adulthood.
Chris graduated Magna Cum Laude from Weber State with a B.S. in Computer Science. He was off and running. He went through a couple entry-level jobs and finally landed at Harman Music Group as a software engineer. Chris worked on projects, large and small. He was widely respected by his colleagues and his clients. When Chris undertook a project, you knew it would be done right. He was the quintessential audio engineer - Harley, ponytail, nose-ring and all.
Chris was a proud geek from day one. If it wasn't rational, he wouldn't accept it. He had an endearingly low threshold for B.S. You could always count on Chris to tell it like it is. He was a provocative thinker with a heart of gold. A sensitive man clad in black biker leathers. Our beloved enigma.
Dixie Lee has put her handsome prince to rest for the last time. Christian Kimball Groscost was laid to sleep on April 20th 2012 preceded by his father John and his step-father Grant. Chris was the most incredibly intelligent, sensitive, and compassionate person this world has ever seen. He left an indelible impression on all who knew him. He was proudly unconventional and lived his life with honesty and devout skepticism. His mother Dixie, wife Cinnamon, brother Pat (Kelly), sisters Erin (Chris) and Juliana (Travis), son Mikkel and step-daughter Chloe will miss him more than words can tell. His Harley will forever stand as his representative to remind us all how fresh air and speed can cleanse ones soul. He was truly one of a kind. Born to this world to be taken too soon. We love you Chris. Rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held for Chris on Friday, April 27th at 2:00 P.M. at the Larkin Mortuary located at 260 East South Temple Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.
