VALENTINE'S DAY

I MISS VALENTINE'S DAY
IN THE CLASSROOM!

I loved everything about it!
It was a simple little holiday in the
middle of winter.

I would do the party myself.
We would play "Valentine Bingo."

Play the "Candy Bar Game."
Then, I gave each kid a Hershey Bar as their valentine.
WIN!
I had extras for my nieces and nephews.
WIN!  WIN!

Peeking in at the 6th grade dance.

Our desks were in a square to accommodate our
Valentine folders.
I got smarter over the years.
We used to put the hearts on the front of their desks.
(Hence, the square.)
They could pass out valentines whenever they
brought them.
Most kids would sneak the treats inside the folder!
The last few years, we spent the first part of our
party passing out valentines.

Passing out the valentines that sat
on top of desk.
The square made it so easy to pass them out!

I usually got quite a haul!
The big red heart was the folders we made.
Mom taught me how to make them.

The Sage Hills kiddos
(minus Carter, who made his in class)
had to create their own Valentine holder.

Addie and Jaycie's unicorns were adorable!
Check out Preston's!
Golden State Warriors basketball court!

Camry made a guitar.

This year was uneventful.
I got mom beautiful flowers.
Heidi brought me and mom a little plant.
I went to Costco and bought me some
"Rice Rollers" and my gum.
That was it.  The End.

Got a chuckle out of this:

VALENTINE OUTING

I decided to take Jaycie & Addie
to get their nails done for
Valentine's Day,
to give their mom a break.

I added Camry & Courtney,
since they live across the street.

And here's mine!

We went through the Wendy's Drive-In,
and took our dinner back to Grandma's.

After that, we drove to the school of my former teammate,
BreAnn Wayman.
I taught her how to make the heart folders.
I had my picture taken by the office,
and sent it to Cami.  Cami was my principal
when I retired.
She's now at a brand new school, Blackridge,
on the road to Cedar Fort.

VALENTINE'S DAY

I have been loving the retirement!
I never thought I could be so happy not being a teacher!!!
I'm busier than ever, but without having to teach school,
make lesson plans, grade papers, and enter scores in the computer,
I seem to have more time to do what I want.
My life had always been busy, and I would feel that
at least when I went to school, I would be at the same place for a few hours.

Anyway, there are only a few times I've missed teaching.
The excitement of the first day.
Clear Creek.
Halloween.
Christmastime.
Valentine's Day.

I loved our Valentine's celebration so much!
Making and decorating the folders, doing "Broken Hearts" in math, where we matched each side of a heart to make equivalent fractions.
And of course, the Valentine Party!
Valentine Bingo, the "Candy Bar Game", popping in on the 6th grade dance, passing out Valentines.
Some years, I would get quite the haul . . . like last year:

This year, I found cute little stuffed animals at
Dollar Tree.
$.50 each!
Yup, I could afford 13 of them.
I went over the day before to give them to the kids.

I also asked on Facebook to have parents send me pictures
from the 6th grade dance.
Not too successful.
I got a couple, but, Hannah Smith's mom posted a TON!
I found a lot of the kids in them.

That night, I went to Heidi Shurtz's wedding in Orem.
Her mom, Colleen, is Karen's sister.
Karen was my favorite roommate in college...Dixie.
I was the "yellow" bridesmaid in the famous rainbow wedding!
