NEWEST FAD

Fads come and go.
Some are funny, like seeing how many
people you could stuff in a phone booth.

Some are weird, like swallowing
live goldfish.

Some just really take off:
Planking, Ice Bucket Challenge, Gluten-free food.

And, then there's the this latest fad:

Tide Pods.

Tide Pods look great!
Sooo pretty!

So, the fad is eating a Tide Pod while
someone video tapes it!
Then, they post it on You-Tube!
And . . . it's dangerous, even deadly!!!

That's right.
STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!

DELUSIONAL

HE'S JUST THAT SPECIAL

I always thought that if we just had a "Mitchell"
on the Utah Jazz, we would be better!

Thank you, Denver Nuggets, for drafting Donavan Mitchell #13,
and taking Trey Lyles off our hands!
Denver also gave us Rudy Gobert, so no need for Denver
to remember to get us a gift at Christmas!

Donavan Mitchell was the
December Western Conference Rookie of the Month!

Hold on, Ben Simmons . . . you may not be a lock
on Rookie of the Year!
(Technically, Simmons shouldn't be considered.
He was there last year, but injured.  He learned a lot, though!)

The only Jazz player to be the
Rookie of the Year was
Darrell Griffith.
He attended the same college as Mitchell.
University of Louisville.

Draft Day

Family
His mom and sister come to visit a lot

He gets out and supports the community!
With Royce O'Neale at a BYU basketball game.

Loved by teammates

In the mix of Rookie of the Year Talk

(Notice it's Kyle Kuzma of Utah, not Lonzo Ball
who is hitting it big with the Lakers!)

Getting love from the greats, Paul George and Russel Westbrook.

And, the "King" himself!

Chris Paul

A funny side note.
Donovan did not have a driver's license when he
came to Utah.  He never finished to requirements!
He had a Connecticut learner's permit.
He had to get rides to practice and games.
All set now.

ABOUT THAT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

Another government shutdown.
This time, the Democrats want the illegal
aliens (DACA) to stay in the country.
Four senators, including Alpine's very
own Mike Lee, voted for it.

On the one year anniversary of
President Trump's inauguration,
the government shuts down.

ALL STATE BAND

Every year, Utah has an
"All State Band"
and
"All State Orchestra"
for high schools.

It's like being an all star!
They get together and practice, then
do a concert.

Jacob Neves was an "all stater" this year.
He plays the French Horn.

He was also the Drum Major at Lone Peak
this past marching band season.

Definitely a #ProudMissMitchellMoment

DOWN 100

What a #ProudAuntieAnnMoment! My niece, Ashley, has lost
100 pounds doing Weight Watchers! It’s funny, I really don’t remember
her looking like the picture on the left. ðŸ¤·‍♀️
During this journey, she also had child #4, and brain surgery!
(Not at same time) Way to go, Ashley!

CHRISTMAS FUDGE

My favorite Christmas book this year was:

Christmas Fudge was written by one of my favorite authors,
Gerald Lund (Work and Glory series is a favorite!)

The book is about a World War II pilot/POW.
It is taken from his journal, and from his children.

The reason I love this book so much, is that I
know the main character!
Wendell Terry was in the bishopric when I was
growing up!

American Fork 10th Ward
Evan Brady, Bishop
Bill Ellison, 1st Counselor
Wendell Terry, 2nd Counselor

(He was later a bishop, but our ward had been split)

Brother Terry would talk a little bit about his experiences
during World War II.
Loved it!!!

I loved that they included his original illustrations!

I was also able to teach 2 of Brother Terry's granddaughters
in 5th grade!
Jennifer & Lisa Terry

Their mother, Judy, was one of my all time favorite room mothers!
She made me the most darling pumpkin!
Every Halloween, I set it on my sectional!
It is now 35 years old!!!
