TEACHER "SWITCH" DAY.

I found this fun newspaper article!
This was March, 2008.
The student council had every teacher "switch" classes for an afternoon.
We each drew out a class.
The 4th-6th grade teachers drew out of a K-3rd hat.
The K-3rd teachers drew out of a 4th-6th hat.
I drew out kindergarten!
As I looked at the picture, I see Meilan and Josh
from this year's class!
HOW FUN IS THAT???

Here's the article that appeared in the Daily Herald.

WORLD'S BEST SCOUTING FAMILY

THIS COUPLE IS THE KING AND QUEEN OF SCOUTING!
THEY ARE GARY AND LAURA DOLLAR.
I TAUGHT 5 OF THEIR 8 CHILDREN.
(I ALWAYS LIKED TO SAY I TAUGHT 5 DOLLARS AND A NICKLE...OH, AND
3 FISHES!)
THEIR CHILDREN WERE SOME OF THE NICEST KIDS TO GO THROUGH
ALPINE ELEMENTARY!
THE ENTIRE FAMILY HAS BEEN INVOLVED WITH SCOUTING...EVEN THE GIRLS!
GARY USED TO MANAGE BIG O TIRES IN AMERICAN FORK.
EACH YEAR WHEN I HAD ONE OF HIS KIDS IN MY CLASS, HE WOULD STOP AT THE SCHOOL, TAKE MY CAR DOWN TO BE
SERVICED AND THE TIRES ROTATED, AND BRING IT BACK!
LOVED THAT KIND OF SERVICE!
GARY & LAURA WERE ON THE COVER OF BOY'S LIFE IN 2010...CELEBRATING
100 YEARS OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA!!!

I TAUGHT THE 2 BOYS ON THE RIGHT NEXT TO THEIR MOTHER...
MATT AND ROBERT.
I TAUGHT THE 2 BOYS ON EACH END OF THE FRONT ROW...
TYLER AND ANDY.
AND I TAUGHT THE GIRL ON THE FRONT ROW, 2ND FROM LEFT...
ASHLEY.
WHEN ASHLEY WAS IN MY CLASS, SHE WAS ONE OF THE
"CHILDREN OF LIGHT"
IN THE 2002 WINTER OLYMPIC OPENING CEREMONIES!!!

FORMER ALPINE ELEMENTARY STUDENT PASSES AWAY

Diana Jex

Diana Jex
1983 ~ 2013
Our little "peaches" was born on April 23, 1983. She was the sixth child and third daughter of Jim and Kathy Jex, of Alpine. She passed away unexpectedly at home, in her sleep, on Sunday July 28, 2013.
Diana's contagious laugh and her bright personality showed the zest she had for life. She was a fiercely loyal friend to many and made them feel welcome in our home.
Diana loved school, attending Alpine Elementary, Mountain Ridge Jr. High, and Lone Peak High School, where she graduated with honors in 2001. She also attended Utah Valley University, where she was one class shy from obtaining an Associates Degree. Her favorite subjects and teachers were in A Cappella Choir, Band, Marching Band (took state her senior year!) and Drama.
Diana loved going to Grandpa's Cabin, where she would snowmobile, ride four-wheelers, swing on the big swing and fish. Diana loved to light the biggest, loudest fireworks in the backyard with her brothers every 4th of July. She loved dancing, especially line dancing and waltzing with her Dad. She sewed aprons, costumes and tied quilts with her Mom. Reading, movies, theatrical plays, games of all kinds, singing and playing her flute were her favorite pastimes. She has participated in Alpine Community Theater as Secretary and Cast Member for years.
Diana received her Temple Endowment on February 2, 2013 and loved to attend the Temple. She served faithfully in multiple callings in her Young Single Adult Ward, where she loved her leaders and friends.
Diana is survived by her parents (Jim and Kathy Jex), siblings: David (Becky) Jex, Heidi (Doug) Crockett, John (Brenda) Jex, Emily (Spencer) Butler, Scott (Nancy) Jex, 11 nieces and 8 nephews. Preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 at the Mountainville Chapel, 165 North 100 East in Alpine. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church and from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to services. Interment will be at the Alpine Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.warenski.com
