THE MAD HATTER

WOW!
It's amazing what my former students do!!!

This is my former student, Severin Bozung.
As a 5th grader, he was soooo smart and nice!
He was very musical, and did his own thing.
I also taught his sister, Aubryanna.
I think his age is somewhere in the mid to late 30's.

(With teaching 33 years, after my first 5 years
and my last 5 years, the ages of my students in the middle
of my career just sort of run all together.  Somewhere between
the late 20's and early 40's.
My first class will be turning 50, starting this fall!
Yup.  I was only 21 when I started teaching!)

Severin appeared as the Mad Hatter in
Mindy Gledhill's
Youtube video, BOO HOO.

JESUS WANTS RYKER FOR A SUNBEAM

IN THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS,
THE YOUNGEST CLASS IN PRIMARY (FOR CHILDREN 3-11)
IS "SUNBEAMS."

RYKER HAPPENS TO BE AN "OLD" SUNBEAM.
HE TURNED 4 ON JANUARY 23.
SO, HE MISSED THE DEADLINE LAST YEAR.

HERE HE IS, PROUDLY DISPLAYING HIS
"SUNBEAM TREASURES."
HIS ART WORK, AND PICTURE OF JESUS WITH CHILDREN.

HIS THOMAS THE TRAIN SHIRT AND SPIDERMAN
IS NOT CHURCH ATTIRE.
(THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN THE NEXT DAY)

NOW, IF HE CAN JUST ATTEND WITHOUT HIS MOM.

CHURCH TIME

When I was growing up, Sunday was a VERY busy day!
At either 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m., I would go to Sunday School.
As a child, we had Junior Sunday School.
This was like Primary today, except their was no Share Time.
We also had the Aaronic Priesthood come in and bless and
pass the Sacrament.
My mom was the Junior Sunday School Coordinator for years.
Sort of like the Primary President.
Then we went to our class for a lesson.
There were over 30 kids my age in the
American Fork 10th Ward, and we had 2 classes,
with about 15 kids in each one.

As a youth and Young Adult, we had
opening exercises in the chapel.  This consisted of a "welcome,"
opening hymn, practice hymn, and the ever popular
2 1/2 minute talks.
Then, class.

This was about 60-90 minutes.

At either 3:00, 5:00, or 7:00 . . . we went back to Church
for Sacrament Meeting.
This lasted one hour, then, it changed to 90 minutes.

At the end of 2018, it was announced:
NO MORE 3 HOUR BLOCK FOR CHURCH!
Children that turned 11 by December 31, could begin
attending Young Men & Young Women.
Boys could be ordained  as a Deacon now before age 12,
and both boys and girls could do
Baptisms for the Dead at the Temple.

With Preston turning 11 on December 28, he barely made the cut.
Unfortunately for Haley, she did not make the cut.
She turned 11 on January 2.

After serving in the Primary for most of my adult life
(Once as a teacher, 5 times as pianist, and twice as secretary),
I found out that Primary became a whole lot easier!!!
No Sharetime and no 11 year old boys!

Whenever there is a change in a Church program, it is piloted.
Wards cannot pilot a program, without telling people!
Wards piloted the 3 hour block program.
We had all heard about it!

In March, 1980, the Church began the 3 hour "block" program!
I was student teaching.
My cooperating teacher, Kim Hansen, had his 3 hour block
from 4:30 - 7:30 pm.
UGLY!

Almost 40 years later, it was changed to the 2 hour
block program.
