BUT, WHO'S COUNTING?

33 YEARS . . . JUST LIKE ME

Another iconic tv show has come to an end.
"The Late Show, With David Letterman"
ended a 33 year run on Wednesday, May 23.
Our career journey was the same length . . . 33 years!
Dave was so funny, and I loved his
Top 10 List the best!
I watched him the entire 33 years!!!
There was even a few times when I was with Conrad
that people asked if he was David Letterman!
(2 were in Florida!)

Here's a picture of Dave appearing on
The Tonight Show
with Johnny Carson.
(Check out that iconic curtain!)

Always laughing in interviews!

In April, 2006, me and 12 of my closest friends went to
New York City for Spring Break!
I tried a few weeks before to get tickets to the show.
(Bucket List)
The show said I couldn't get 13 tickets.  I could only get 10.
It was about not having empty seats.
You also had to take your chances that your group would be picked.
(C'mon!  I had seen the "standby audience" on the show!)
Anyway, if I had gotten 10, 3 in our group could not go.
The way things go...no one would be able to decide who got to go.
I also think they'd be mad at me if we went to stand and line, and didn't get in.
And somehow...the person who made all the arrangements, me...would be left out.
So, I didn't get them.

But, one day, Jane was a trooper...and we went to see the "neighborhood!"
These are pictures from my NYC pictures on my well...but they're all good!

Top:  Guest Star, Michael Douglas
Biff Henderson, part of the production
These pictures were taken where guests enter and exit
for the show.
There was a fancy car waiting to take Michael Douglas away.
It was running the entire time...with the air conditioning on.
DIVA!

The sign on the corner

Yup. Me.
Across the street from the "Ed Sullivan Theater!"
I always watched the Ed Sullivan Show when I was little in the 60's!

The owner of "Hello Deli" was also a part of the show!
I got a tee shirt from here.
The place is a dump.  But famous.
The owner, Rupert Jee (pronounced "Gee")

The best part was the appearance of
Sparky Mortimer on the show!
Sparky was in 1st grade at Alpine Elementary,
and Cathy was his teacher!
He sat by Channel 2 news anchor, Michelle King,
at BYU football games.
He was soooo into sports, and pretended he was
a play-by-play announcer.
He was filmed at a game doing his thing,
and Michelle put it on the news.
David Letterman's people saw it, and
Sparky was off to NYC!
I took my class out front of the school to watch
the limo pick him up!
He was an absolute hit!!!
He became a semi-regular on the show!
He was a commentator for the show for the BIGGEST sporting events:
World Series
Super Bowl
NBA Finals
And her was just 6!

When he was in 3rd or 4th grade, he MC'd an assembly
for Teacher Appreciation Week.
He wrote everything (above most kids heads)
He gave all of the teachers a name.
I only remembered one:  "Polyester Pants Vance!"

NANCY'S RETIREMENT CELEBRATION

Nancy Clegg Pope taught with me for 30 years.
1983-2013.
She was "Miss Clegg" until July 1988.
We always had a great time together!
We hung out together, and with Don and roommates.
Once, we went to a fireside that Steve Young spoke at.
He talked about going on a date with Sharlene Wells...Miss America.
In August of 1985, we went to Hawaii together!
It was sooooo fabulous!
We also had several "Girls Night Out" at Jazz games for her birthday.
I've also taken her, Karl, and Nathan to Jazz games.

On Tuesday, May 19, Nancy's retirement party was held at:

SARA AND FRED

On Tuesday, May 19, Sara and Fred came up
from Las Vegas.
They were on a short road trip.
They visited a friend in Cedar City, me,
toured the Payson Temple, visited Karen's brother,
Tom, and Kathy in St. George.
We went to lunch at Mi Ranchito's, went
to visit mom at the shop, and WalMart.
Best part?
Fred fixed our fridge!
We got it last summer.  It made LOUD noises!
Fred pulled it out a couple of times.
Noise gone.
Then later, he pulled it out.
There was a little bit of water.
A hose had barely been tightened!
He used my pink wrench, tightened it up,
and it's been great ever since!

Sara and I were roommates for only a
couple of months at Dixie, but always stayed
in touch.  I was a bridesmaid for her in 1979.
(The year of the bridesmaid...5 time that year!)
I've stayed 5 or 6 times with them in Vegas.

I liked the tablecloth!

Fred had "All You Can Eat Tacos."
He had to wait awhile.
Downed a dozen!
