CHURCH TIME

On December 31, we attended church from
9:00-12:00
in our regular church building.

On January 7, we attended church from
11:00-2:00
in our regular church building.
(Our regular church building is actually
annexed into Pleasant Grove)

Today, January 14, we attended church from
1:00-4:00
in our NEW church building!

3 weeks.
3 church times.
2 buildings.

Our new building was built over the last year.
You go south on 500 East, over I-15,
past Ken Garff auto dealership,
turn right.  And there, in a field by
itself, is a brand spanking new church building!
New smell, new hymn books, new furnishings, etc.
The two most interesting things???
We don't have permanent wifi, some type of
card thing till they can get one.  They have to go
through UTA, cuz it has to go under the Frontrunner tracks.
Also, since we are basically in the middle of nowhere,
in a field, near Utah Lake, any food brought in,
like snacks for kids, etc., must be carried out!
The field mice will become church mice!

This is my 4th brand spanking new building
to attend in my life!
(Plus 3 new stake centers.)
The interesting thing about this building,
is it is located close to Utah Lake, and is
on the exact property that was my stake's welfare farm!
I picked beans there every summer for years and years!
(Trivia:  when we lived in St. George through my
1st grade year, we went to church in the
St. George Tabernacle!)

Every January, most LDS wards go through the dreaded
TIME CHANGE!
The purpose of the time change, is to let everyone have a chance
at the different church times.

Pros and Cons

9:00-12:00
Get up, get going!  When it's over, you basically have an entire day ahead of you!
Hard with little ones to get up...or teenagers.

11:00-2:00
Sleep in.  Can do a few things before.
Middle of lunch.

1:00-4:00
Sleep in...A LOT!
Nap time for little ones...and not so little!
Long morning waiting to go.
Almost dark when you get home.

If you live in a place like my Aunt Pat did,
in Woodruff, Utah,
there is only 1 ward.
Church time was always 10:00-1:00.
EVERY YEAR!
 No stress about changing.

When our "Retirement Branch" was created, a few years ago,
 our church schedule was
8:30-11:30

WHAT????
This was the BEST!
Old people are up...might as well get going!
(We're back in a regular ward now.)

My favorite schedule is 9:00-12:00...then you're done!
When I was Stake Relief Society Secretary for 4 years,
I attended ward/branch conferences for 13 units.
I experiences all of the times...and sometimes,
two times in one day! (9:00 & 1:00). This lasted for 6 months!
(Off on Fast Sundays, General Conference, Stake Conference,
Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day.)

Anyway...here's my solution for all of us that enjoy the early time!
