The day my dad was born.

June 14, 2003
The day my dad passed away.
Age 74.

September 8, 2018
Today, my dad would have been 90 years old.
He was 30 years old when I was born.
That means next month, I will be
30 years less than 90!

Obituary Condolences


Richard Pearson Mitchell 1928~2003  Richard Pearson Mitchell, 74, died June 14, 2003, in Nephi, Utah.Born September 8, 1928, in Lehi, Utah, to Francis LaVere and Hilda May Pearson Mitchell. He grew up in American Fork, and graduated with honors from American Fork High School. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from USU, and a PhD in electrical engineering. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. Richard married Dixie Alice Howard on September 1, 1956, in Nephi, Utah. He taught math, physics, and surveying at Utah State University and Dixie Jr. College, and Electrical Apprenticeship at UVSC. Richard and Reid were owners and operators of B&D Pump and Electric.  Richard served as a National Director of the Appaloosa Horse Club, and was to be inducted into the National Hall of Fame in July. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Dixie, American Fork; one son Reid (Laurel) Mitchell, Pleasant Grove; daughter, Ann Mitchell, American Fork; six grandchildren: Chris (Kim), Camille, McKay, Heidi, and Katie Mitchell, all of Pleasant Grove; Ashley (Jon) Kelly, St. George; one great-grand-daughter, Courtney Paige; one sister, Virginia Pascoe, St. George. Preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Shirl Mitchell. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunset Hills 1st Ward, 949 North 540 West, American Fork. Friends may call at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork on Thursday, June 19 from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.

Courtney Paige Mitchell, great grandchild #1, was 2 1/2 when he passed away. 
She'll be 18 on September 26, and is a senior at Westlake High School, the largest high school in the state!  This school  didn't even exist when her great grandpa was still living!
