The people who took the pictures at Hope of America only printed the picture of the first night. An e-mail was sent to you with the picture from our night (except I'm cut off :( !) You can print a copy from the email. This is the picture that appeared in the Daily Herald!

ANATOMY UNIT
Our Anatomy health unit was really fun! We learned about the Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous, Circulatory, Digestive, and Respiratory Systems. We had to figure out optical illusion images, and also figure out what we touched, smelled and tasted! Some were great, others not fun!
Our test was pretty easy. Congratulations to the top finishers on the test:
Brook & Liz --- 105%
(This is the top score. Getting everything right, plus the 5 bonus points.)
Madeleine & Addie --- 104%
Lauren & Elizabeth --- 103%
Tyler & Ryan W. --- 95%
Gavin & Hunter --- 93%
Tyson --- 91%
Katie --- 90%
The top scores on the unit were:
Addie --- 114%
Hunter --- 109%
Elizabeth --- 101%
Emily --- 99%
Lauren --- 96%
Congratulations!!! These student know how to ENDURE TO THE END!
PENNY WARS RESULTS
Our 5th & 6th graders earned $763.53 by "BOMBING" each other in the "Penny Wars!"
On this cart is all of the money we collected from the 5th and 6th graders "bombing" each other!
We tried to see how strong the men were! Mr. Finlayson went first, he srtuggled, but was able to lift one container. Each container weighed 110 pounds!
Mr. Cowley, who regularly lifts weights, tried to lift the entire cart and the coins, but couldn't. He was able to lift two containers, and nearly passed out!
Mr. Beckstrand lifts the full jar.
Our special guest from the Utah Food Bank gladly accepted the money! He had the first 5 rows of students stand up. He said that's how many NEW families came last month to accept food, usually because of a job loss. Thanks 5th & 6th graders for your unselfish contributions!!!

MARKET DAY
Since the beginning of April, we have been working hard to earn money to attend "Market Day." Market Day is where you set up your own store and sell items to the rest of the 5th grade. You buy the products with play money that each student earned. Each student had to earn $1000. You could earn money with table points, notes brought back signed, 100% on tests, A's on units, etc. This was our May end-of-month activity!

EGG DROP
The 5th grade had an "Egg Drop" competition. Mr. Finlayson and Mrs. Weakley climbed to the roof of the school. Students were to prepare a raw egg to be dropped from the roof, without breaking. Eggs were packed in styrofoam, bubble wrap, boxes, even pudding and jello! Some also made a type of parachute! Students could also devise a way to catch a raw egg. Towels, shirts, pantyhose, and styrofoam were some of the ingenious ways! Thanks to Mr. Finlayson for the fun idea!
