What a thriller! BYU won by 3 points in overtime! RISE & SHOUT!!!
Eva Neves is a former student of mine! She is a sophomore at the University of Utah. She is also a member of the Ute marching band! Joe Phillips, the kicker for Utah, is a former student of Miss Mitchell's! Another former student, Zeke Mendenhall, plays defensive back for BYU. He is a junior. Some PROUD Miss Mitchell moments!
Other connections with Alpine Elementary: Mr. Stephenson's nephew is the kicker for BYU! And ... my student teacher 25 years ago, is the father of two BYU players: Nick and Terrance Alletto!
It's Senior Day! BYU Seniors were honored. The team wore royal blue uniforms in honor of the 25th anniversary NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! (Yes, I was teaching then!)

After 25 years, BYU FINALLY receives its national championship trophy! The crystal football trophy was started in 1985...BYU won in 1984. The NCAA said teams from 1950-1984 could receive their trophy. Elder Jeffrey Holland (a student in several of my dad's classes at Dixie High and Dixie College) was the president of BYU at the time. He presented the trophy to Coach LaVell Edwards. Then, Elder Holland accidentally knocked off the crystal football, but was able to put it back on!

That was such a good game! I'm just glad I didn't get smashed when we rushed onto the field. I'm in that big mass right there and it was SCARY! Its fun to see a picture of it!
