MY 2ND HARDEST DAY OF TEACHING


My second hardest day of teaching was January 30, 1986.
This was the day that the Challenger Space Shuttle blew up.
My hardest day was of course, 9-11.  It also had
a longer lasting effect on the kids.  Lots of crying . . . even days later.
We had watched several shuttle launches at school, but this
one was sooo exciting!
The first civilian ever on board, was a teacher!
She would even teach lessons from space!

We were headed to the one room that had a tv to watch.
Somehow, the cable set up would not work.
But that was a tender mercy!

This year marks the 30th anniversary!








The crew of the space shuttle Challenger honored us by the manner in which they lived their lives. We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and "slipped the surly bonds of earth" to "touch the face of God."
