KATELYN MITCHELL, TEACHER?

Two years ago in May, Katie became an LPN.
Last April, she became an RN.
Next month, she'll receive her Bachelor's Degree.
For some reason, as part of getting her Bachelor's Degree,
Katie had to teach a class in a school.
Since she did not want to do it in an LA school,
she had arranged to teach in my good friend, Nancy's,
3rd grade class at Alpine Elementary.

As always, I feel less and less at home when I go to the school.
My home for 33 years.
We went to see Paul.
He told me he received a TSA assignment at
Deerfield Elementary...possibly where Oakley
will go to school.
GOOD FOR HIM!
Of course, we saw Nancy, who is retiring on May 29.
Lori came in to visit.
We went to see my old room and Condita,
but it was locked.
And, we saw Paula.
Sooooo glad I'm retired!

(Next year, there will be only 2 sixth grade classes!
I have never seen the population that low...ever!
This year, there are 3 5th grades, and they have 18 kids each!
WOW!  I had 37 kids...more than
twice as many as they have this year!)
My first few years in 6th grade...Wayne, Jack, and John. Then Dave, Jane, Cheryl, Don, Cathy, Austin, and a couple of "in and outs.")

Anyway...Katie had been talking to Nancy.
She wanted Katie to teach a lesson about bullying.
Just from some of the kids comments, they've all been bullied!

Katie gave them a survey to fill out...without
putting their names on it.

She made a Power Point.  It was OUTSTANDING!!!

She had them play "gossip"...which really got
the point across about verbal bullying!

Technical Difficulties.
Hahaha. The old, "Monitor and Adjust."
So...she turned her computer around
to show a "McGruff" video about bullying.

"Who wants this dollar bill?"
Katie showed the bill, then crumpled,
then stepped on it.
This showed that even though a person is
"wadded up" and "stepped on", they're still
worth something.

Oooops.  Forgot that in 3rd grade, they have no
questions, or want to answer.
They want to tell a story!
One kid even asked if she had helped his
cousin in Salt Lake!

Look at how cute the end of her Power Point is!

Picture with the class.

 Some things never change.
Gotta have a silly class pic!
